During the 19th century, town parks came into existence, and with them came music pavilions offering free concerts. The citizens could look forward to hearing musical tones throughout the public town square. Sometimes, during the 20th century, the pavilions was destroyed or moved to another location. Some pavilions stand as historical monuments in the axis of the town square, or near the Church. Due to the building development in the area, it remains uncertain as to whether the pavilion will stay in its current location or be moved again. In the developped countries, local interest and historical value lead to the forming of a group of voluntary participants from the community, private individuals and the municipality: working together they restore and preserve his music pavilion. This site presents images of bandstands from around the world. Many are now no longer in existence, but their images remain.
