Rigoutat. Spécialiste dans la fabrication de haubois... Pourtant connu depuis l'Antiquité le hautbois n'est pas un instrument de musique populaire tels que peuvent l'être le saxophone, la flûte ou encore la clarinette pour les instruments à vent ou le piano et la guitare pour les instruments à cordes.

Son prix d'achat supérieur à celui de beaucoup d'instruments est sans doute l'une des raisons de sa relative marginalité. On pourrait citer aussi son faible volume sonore qui l'empêcha longtemps de se produire dans des groupes de Jazz ou de Rock, ce problème n'existant plus maintenant grâce aux progrès de la sonorisation. Ajoutons que sa difficulté technique n'a pas toujours aidé les choses non plus.

Le hautbois débute 3000 ans avant JC par une anche double faite de deux fines lamelles de roseau qui vibrent l'une contre l'autre lorsqu'on souffle entre elles. L'Antiquité connaitra le hautbois double égyptien, l'aulos grec et la tibia romaine. Le Moyen-Age entendra les chalumeaux et la Renaissance fera sonner les musettes et les bombardes.

C 'est grâce à J.S. Bach, Purcell, Haendel puis Quantz et Vivaldi que le hautbois fera le tour de l'Europe. Ainsi naîtra la famille du hautbois: musette, hautbois d'amour, cor "anglé" - qui deviendra le cor anglais-, hautbois ténor et hautbois baryton. Seuls le hautbois, le hautbois d'amour et le cor anglais intégreront l'orchestre.

A près Mozart, Haydn, Bellini et bien d'autres, Schumann écrira à son tour des pages admirables pour le hautbois.

Puis, au début de notre siècle, Britten et Poulenc entre autres lui redonnent la primauté en musique de chambre tandis que Strauss, Penderecki ou Ibert font accompagner ses solos superbes par l'orchestre.

La Facture Instrumentale depuis un siècle a beaucoup évolué dans la recherche d'une sonorité toujours aussi brillante mais en même temps plus ronde afin de mieux se fondre dans l'orchestre.

Facteurs de flûtes - Vincent Bernolin. Mes instruments sont disponibles en buis, poirier, érable ou bois exotiques. Le buis est un bois quelque peu capricieux demandant de nombreuses précautions et de nombreuses retouches au cours de la fabrication de l'instrument. Les bois exotiques présentent des caractéristiques de stabilité supérieures à celles du buis, et sont de ce fait plus faciles à utiliser pour la réalisation d'une flûte à bec. Mais la couleur sonore très particulière du buis fait de lui la coqueluche des flûtistes.
